Do you love movies? On Reel Faith, hosts David DiCerto and Steven Greydanus offer a Catholic perspective on the latest Hollywood releases and Father Robert Lauder selects his Movie With a Message. These are film reviews you can have faith in. The Communicator & Gabriel award-winning REEL FAITH began in the Summer of 2010 and has produced well over 150 episodes.

The 2019 Summer Season of REEL FAITH is currently airing on NET! All episodes will air for the rest of the Summer and we’ll be back with new episodes in November 2019!

Our first episode aired on Friday, May 24th, 2019 with reviews of AVENGERS: ENDGAME,  TOLKIEN, POKEMON: DETECTIVE PIKACHU and UGLYDOLLS! And our Movie With a Message was REMAINS OF THE DAY, starring Anthony Hopkins and Emma Thompson!

Our 2nd episode aired on Friday May 31st with reviews of ALADDIN and A DOG’S JOURNEY! Plus our Movie With a Message was the 2015 French film, THE MEASURE OF A MAN!

Our 3rd episode aired on Friday, June 14th @ 8pm with reviews of the latest X-Men movie, DARK PHOENIX, and the documentaries, EMANUEL and AMAZING GRACE. Plus, Fr. Lauder’s Movie With a Message was be Martin Scorsese’s 1974 romantic drama, Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore, starring Ellen Burstyn and Kris Kristofferson.

Our 4th episode aired on Friday, June 21st @ 8pm with reviews of GODZILLA: KING of MONSTERS, THE SECRET LIFE OF PETS 2 and ROCKETMAN! And our Movie With a Message was 1935’s A TALE OF TWO CITIES, starring Ronald Colman and Elizabeth Allan!

Our 5th episode aired on Friday, June 28th @ 8pm with reviews of TOY STORY 4, MEN IN BLACK: INTERNATIONAL and THE DEAD DON’T DIE! And our Movie With a Message was Elia Kazan’s directorial debut, 1945’s A TREE GROWS IN BROOKLYN!

Our 6th episode aired on Friday, July 12th @ 8pm with reviews of SPIDER-MAN: FAR FROM HOME and YESTERDAY! And our Movie With a Message was 1939’s NINOTCHKA, starring Greta Garbo!

Our 7th episode aired on Friday, July 19th @ 8pm with reviews of THE LION KING, STUBER, and THE FAREWELL! And our Movie With a Message was 1971’s KLUTE, starring Jane Fonda and Donald Sutherland!

Our 8th and final episode of the summer season aired on Friday, August 2nd @ 8pm with a review of ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD, MIDSOMMAR and a look at what’s coming to theaters later this year! And our Movie With a Message was 1943’s A GUY NAMED JOE, starring Spencer Tracy and Irene Dunn!

Fr. Robert Lauder’s 2019 Fall Friday Film Festival

Father Robert Lauder and the Diocesan Office of Faith Formation, School of Evangelization, will present the 58th Friday Film Festival at the Immaculate Conception Center in Douglaston over six weeks this fall.


September 6th……….James Bridge’s “China Syndrome”

Starring Jane Fonda, Jack Lemmon & Michael Douglas

September 13th…………….Spike Lee’s “BlacKkKlansman”

Starring John David Washington, Adam Driver, Laura Harrier

September 20th…….Shakespeare’s “Julius Caesar”

Directed by Joseph L. Mankiewicz and Starring Marlon Brando, James Mason & Greer Garson

September 27th………….Paul Schrader’s “First Reformed”

Starring Ethan Hawke, Amanda Seyfried & Cedric the Entertainer

October 4th………Ernst Lubitsch’s “Ninotchka”

Starring Greta Garbo, Melvyn Douglas & Ina Claire

October 18th……………Jerome Robbin and Robert Wise’s “West Side Story”

Starring Natalie Wood, George Chakiris & Richard Beymer

The suggested donation for the series is $25, or $6 per film. Tickets may be ordered in advance by mailing a check payable to the Diocese of Brooklyn, Attn: School of Evangelization, 310 Prospect Park West, Brooklyn, NY 11215. Be sure to include a stamped, self-addressed envelope.
