Eating disorders have the highest mortality rate of any mental disorder. Nearly twenty million women and 10 million men have eating disorders in the United States. In this episode, host Portland Helmich is joined by social worker and eating disorder specialist, Allison Jupiter, and nutritional therapist, Limor Baum, to talk about the serious consequences of eating disorders and the importance of psychotherapy, medical treatment and nutritional therapy. Then, Portland talks to former Miss America, Kirsten Haglund, who shares about her battle with anorexia, the steps she took to recovery, and how she is helping others through the Kirsten Haglund Foundation.
