Cyclones Night for Girl Battling Lyme Disease
Dancers take over MCU Field to raise money and awareness for a Dyker Heights girl battling a debilitating illness. Julia Bruzzese was an active twelve-year-old, a dancer herself, until last year when she contracted Lyme disease and lost the ability to move her legs. The Brooklyn community rallied around her after Pope Francis blessed her last September. Currents Correspondent reports from the field as Julia throws out the first pitch for the Cyclones.

The Rosary
Today Joe takes us to Torrance, California, where a group of people prays the rosary publicly on a street corner. He talks with some of the group about their faith and the reason why they stay out there to proclaim their faith. Later, Joe goes to Saint Finbar Church and tells how the Filipino community celebrates Santo Niño, a special depiction of the Child Jesus, with a special nine-day celebration. Finally, Joe visits Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Parish and School to learn about how they are making a difference in the lives of the children.

Judge Rules Vision Zero Law ‘Unconstitutional’
A Queens judge ruled recently that a key part of the mayor’s landmark pedestrian and bicycle safety initiative that penalizes drivers for hitting people is unconstitutional. Michelle Powers took the pulse of New Yorkers to see what they think about Vision Zero and filed this report.

Security Amped at City Airports
Following the attack on Istanbul’s Ataturk airport, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey called in reinforcements including armored vehicles and heavily armed officers at Kennedy, LaGuardia, and Newark. Michelle Powers was at JFK and spoke with flyers about the increased security presence.
