Nickeled and Dimed!: New Tax Could Have New Yorkers Paying for Bags
Your weekly shopping trip could cost more this February because of a law passed by the New York City Council. The law would require consumers to pay a 5 cents a pop for each plastic bag used. Katie Engesser reports from the streets of Brooklyn with the full story.
Brooklyn Priest Racially Attacked
Tim Harfmann reports from Marine Park, Brooklyn, where a priest was allegedly threatened with a baseball bat. The Nigerian-born priest, known to his Good Shepherd Church parishioners as Fr. Melchizedek, was out for an early morning walk last week. That’s when, according to authorities, a 25-year-old white man screamed racial slurs at him.

TMLA Basketball Player Earns National Honor
Danielle Patterson, a 6’3″ center on The Mary Louis Academy’s varsity basketball team, has been chosen to play in the McDonald’s All-American Game. Only 24 players made the cut, and the Marine Park, Brooklyn, native is the only New Yorker. More importantly, Danielle is making school history.
