High School Basketball Teams Compete For State Championships

Tim Harfmann reports from Fordham University’s Rose Hill Gym, the site of the New York State Catholic High School basketball championships. First, it’s a rematch of the NYC title game between Queens’ Mary Louis Academy and Monsignor Scanlan from the Bronx. The Hilltoppers and Crusaders play a close game that goes into overtime. Then, the boys’ game features the Stanners from Archbishop Molloy and the Cardinals from Cardinal Hayes.

Immigrants Hope To Keep Families Together

Tim Harfmann reports from Lower Manhattan, where Mexican immigrants are scrambling to acquire birth certificates for their children. With the government document, the U.S.-born children can apply for a Mexican passport, so they can travel with their undocumented parents if they face deportation.

Remembering A ‘Giant’ Hurricane Hero

Loved ones gathered at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Flatlands, to say goodbye to the beloved pastor. Monsignor John Brown returned to the Lord after serving the diocese for over three decades. The Brooklyn-born priest was the pastor of St. Francis de Sales Church, Belle Harbor, during Hurricane Sandy. Monsignor Brown coordinated the relief center inside the parish gym, where thousands of people went for food, clothes and shelter. Tim Harfmann speaks with Bishop Nicholas DiMarzio, family and parishioners.
