St. Helen’s Church Rededicated After Renovations
Bishop Nicholas DiMarzio is rededicating St. Helen’s Church in Howard Beach, Queens. Tim Harfmann has been following the renovation work that’s been underway since January. He reports the congregation turned out in big numbers for the ceremony, and they’re happy to have their whole church back.

Also known as senile dementia, it is an irreversible, progressive brain disorder that causes problems with memory, thinking, reasoning and behavior. Host Portland Helmich talks the Program Director of New York City’s Alzheimer’s Association, Dr. Anafidelia Tavares, MD, MPH, and social worker Licet Valois to unpack what the diagnosis means and what help and resources are available to Alzheimer’s patients as well as to their caregivers. Then, Portland talks to Eugenio Bedoya about his experience in taking care of his mother who suffers from Alzheimer’s disease and where he has found hope.
