Interfaith Group Supports Immigrant Mother in Sanctuary

For four months, Amanda Morales has been living with her children at Holyrood Episcopal Church in Washington Heights. She sought sanctuary — protection from arrest — there after she was ordered removed from the U.S. back to her native Guatemala. New Sanctuary Movement NYC, an interfaith group that supports immigrants facing deportation, has been helping Amanda and her children. Currents Konrad Aderer reports from the church, as Amanda’s supporters gather for a press conference and protest, calling on immigration authorities to suspend her deportation order.

Santa Stop Helps Kids in Need

In the Jackson Heights neighborhood of Queens, hundreds of children gather at church to visit with Santa Claus. Currents News Katie Engesser reports the special event is designed to help families in need.
