Estadística triste por demás. Las adolescentes Latinas tienen la tasa mas alta de suicidios en Estados Unidos. Según un informe del 2012 del Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 13.5 por ciento de las estudiantes hispanas de grados 9 a 12 admitieron un intento de suicidio — un porcentaje significativamente mas alto que los africanos americanos y los no Latinos. Eso significa uno en cada cinco adolescentes Latinas en escuela superior. En esta edición de Tu Fe Al Día conocemos Comunilife, una organización sin fines de lucro que trabaja con adolescentes latinas que han tratado de quitarse su vida.
A sad but real statistic. Latinas have the highest teen suicide rate in the United States. According to a 2012 Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 13.5 percent of Hispanic students in grades 9-12 admitted a suicide attempt – a significantly higher percentage of African Americans and non-Latinos. This means one in five Latina teenagers in high school. In this edition of Tu Fe Al Día, we meet Comunilife, a non-profit organization that works with Latina adolescents who have tried to take their life.
