Bishop Elias Sleiman Speaks Out Against Syria Conquest
Al Qaeda is battling to conquer both Syria and Iraq and twist them into a caliphate of Islamic domination. Standing on the front lines against them are Catholic leaders in Iraq and Syria. One of the bravest is Bishop Elias Sleiman. His Syrian Diocese includes the ancient Christian city of Homs, which al Qaeda first attacked three years ago. Bishop Sleiman and fellow Maronite Bishop Gregory Mansour came to Currents studios for an interview with News Director Ed Wilkinson in between meetings with the leader of the Diocese of Brooklyn and Queens, Bishop Nicholas DiMarzio, and meetings with the Catholic charity Aid to the Church in Need.
