Italian American Documentary Features Local People, Traditions
A new PBS documentary focuses on Italian Americans in New York and New Jersey. Among those featured, Bridgeport Bishop Frank Caggiano, a Brooklyn native, and John Heyer, a parishioner at Sacred Hearts and St. Stephen Church in Carroll Gardens. That’s where Currents correspondent Katie Breidenbach visited ahead of the documentaries airing.

Pro-life activist Alveda King, the niece of Martin Luther King, Jr., recounts her experience at the 2015 March for Life. She also discusses, with Currents anchor Liz Faublas, the fight to end abortion and an effort in New York State to require abortion facilities to undergo regular state inspections.
Vatican on Homilies: Not a Form of Entertainment
The Vatican has issued new directives for the preaching of homilies. Archbishop Arthur Roche, the Secretary for the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments, says homilies at Mass should not be improvised and not be a form of entertainment.
