Clarifying the Church’s Death Penalty Position
A federal jury has found Dzhokar Tsarnaev guilty of all 30 counts for his involvement in executing the Boston Marathon bombing in 2013. Three people were killed and 264 others were injured. Tsarnaev faces the possibility of being sentenced to death. As the jury deliberated, the Massachusetts Catholic Conference issued a statement from the bishops of that state, clarifying the Church’s opposition to the death penalty. At that time, Currents anchor Liz Faublas spoke with the Executive Director of the Massachusetts Catholic Conference, James Driscoll.

Chrism Mass Celebrated at Brooklyn’s Co-Cathedral
Bishop DiMarzio addressed the priests of the diocese and blessed the oils used in sacraments at the parishes of Brooklyn and Queens at the annual Chrism Mass. For the first time, the Mass was celebrated at the Co-Cathedral of St. Joseph in Prospect Heights..
