Pope Francis Opens Holy Doors in Africa
The Church is generally waiting until next week to begin the Jubilee Year of Mercy, but Pope Francis began the year during his trip to Africa, opening the Holy Doors at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception in the Central African Republic’s capital city of Bangui. DeSales Media’s special correspondent for the Pope’s trip to Africa, Christopher Lamb, caught the moments when the Holy Father opened the door and the crowd erupted.

Pope Francis arrives at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception in the Central African Republic capital of Bangui, where he opened the Holy Doors for the Year of Mercy. Giving Back
Special guest John Samuelsen, President of the Transport Workers Union – Local 100 joins Monsignor Harrington, Vicar of Communication for the Diocese of Brooklyn, to talk about the Local 100 and the good they do for their workers and the transportation system in New York City. Then, Terry Donnellan, director of the new NET documentary, “Shelter in the City” and Vinny Nerone, volunteer in the Bensonhurst Cluster, come on to talk about homelessness and the role of giving back to the community.
