“Pope’s Theologian” Shares Francis’ Vision

Fr. Carlos Maria Galli worked with then-Cardinal Jorge Bergoglio in their native Buenos Aires, Argentina, and shortly after Pope Francis was elected to the pontificate he named Fr. Galli to the International Theological Commission that advises him at the Vatican. Now Fr. Galli is on a mission to spread the pope’s vision for the church across the United States. Currents Correspondent Katie Breidenbach catches up with him at Fordham University.

Brooklyn in Solidarity With Pakistan

Borough President Eric Adams and Pakistani Consul-General Raja Ali Ejaz stood with community members to mourn Sunday’s terrorist attack in Lahore. Katie Breidenbach reports from Brooklyn’s “Little Pakistan,” where Muslims stood alongside Christians, denouncing the violence and praying for peace. Pakistani Christians, however, say solidarity in Brooklyn is not enough.

St. Finbar, Bath Beach: A Resurrection

Michelle Powers reports from St. Finbar Parish in Bath Beach, where, after raising nearly one million dollars for restorations and after months of construction, parishioners were able to bask in the glory of their Church this Easter Sunday. St. Finbar was restored to the very same layout of the 1910 church.

Diocese Welcomes 1,300 to Church

Nearly 1,300 people joined the Church in Brooklyn and Queens during the Easter Vigil. Among these were 39 who were given their first sacraments by Bishop DiMarzio at St. Agatha Church, Sunset Park. Katie Breidenbach was on hand for the celebration in three languages: English, Spanish, and Chinese.
