Answering the “Radical” Call to Priesthood

Pope Francis has set aside this Sunday as the World Day of Prayer for Vocations, asking all faithful to pray for those who may be called to the priesthood or religious life.  A group of young men from Cathedral Preparatory School and Seminary say that these prayers are needed because following God’s call is “radical.” Currents Correspondent Katie Breidenbach explains why.

Brooklynites Honored for Saving Lives

Seven Brooklynites – six police officers and one Williamsburg resident – stepped up and saved the lives of two people in two separate incidents. For their heroic actions, Sea Gate Police Department Sergeant Fredrick Manney, Officers Vinny Giardiello, Joseph Pascone, Nuchem Schwartz, and Thomas Schulz, as well as Cadet Elijah Santos are honored with Shloime Kohn of Williamsburg by Borough President Eric Adams. Katie Breidenbach reports from Brooklyn Borough Hall where the seven are declared “Heroes of the Month.”

Jane O’Meara Sanders visits St. Saviour High School

Kasich Talks Faith in Borough Park

Republican Presidential Candidate John Kasich visits a Jewish bakery and school for autistic children in Borough Park, Brooklyn. While at Shmurah Matzoh Bakery and Shema Kolainu-Hear Our Voices school, the Ohio governor draws a parallel between Judaism and Christianity, drawing on the area’s deep faith.
