The Diocese of Brooklyn, along with dozens of other clergy members, joined police and civilians at a vigil in Grand Army Plaza Monday night. Prayers were said for the five police officers who were assassinated in Dallas last week, as well as the two men killed by police in Louisiana and Minnesota. Weekend of Protests Sparks Calls for Healing
Demonstrators have gathered in New York for four consecutive days, protesting the shooting deaths of black men in Louisiana and Minnesota by police officers. In Fort Greene Park the Black Lives Matter movement held a private gathering with members of the community with the goal of healing. Tonight, Bishop Nicholas DiMarzio of Brooklyn and other community leaders will hold a candle light vigil to pray for peace and unity. Currents Correspondent Katie Breidenbach reports.
