Our Lady of Charity in Jackson Heights

When Pope Francis visited Cuba, the people there gifted the Holy Father with a replica of the country’s patroness, Our Lady of Charity of El Cobre. Pope Francis then brought the statue with him to the World Meeting of Families in Philadelphia, USA. The treasure is now touring the United States. One of its first stops, St. Joan of Arc Church in Jackson Heights. Michelle Powers was there and filed this report.

Safety Improvement for Greenpoint Catholic Academy

After years of fighting with the NYC Department of Transportation, St. Stanislaus Kostka Catholic Academy had an elevated crosswalk and speed bump installed near its school building. With help from local government officials, the Greenpoint elementary school is increasing safety for over 200 students.

Convocation for Brooklyn Diocese Vocation Committees

As part of Bishop Nicholas DiMarzio’s push for vocations, every parish in Brooklyn and Queens is creating a committee.
