NYS Assembly Proposes $30M in Funding to Combat Heroin Epidemic

A proposal to set aside $30 million to fight the heroin epidemic in New York state has been announced by the state Assembly. The measure would expand prevention, treatment and recovery efforts around the state. Many of those addicted are right here in Brooklyn and Queens. One youth substance abuse counselor from Midwood compares overdose deaths to figures only seen during wartime. Michelle Powers reports.
