New York has sworn in the state’s first woman governor.

Former Lieutenant Governor Kathy Hochul took the oath of office at midnight Tuesday.

That rather odd timing came at the behest of former Governor Andrew Cuomo, who announced his resignation two weeks ago.

He was facing impeachment after the State Attorney General released a report, finding he had sexually harassed 11 women.

Cuomo has denied all of the allegations, saying he never touched anyone inappropriately, but acknowledged that some of his behavior made others uncomfortable.
