The decision is “heartbreaking’ in the words of the U.S. bishops. The clerics are responding as the Trump administration kills protections for a large number of El Salvadorans. The immigrants were granted a safe harbor in America after two earthquakes rocked their homeland years ago. Now, the White House claims conditions have improved, but that’s something the bishops dispute, arguing El Salvador can’t adequately handle the return of almost 200,000 people.
