Catholic Brooklynite Named Borough’s Parks Commissioner

His mission is to help protect God’s green Earth. Martin Maher, a parishioner at Holy Name of Jesus Church, is the newly appointed commissioner for parks in Brooklyn. He oversees the borough’s nearly 900 parks, playgrounds, gardens, recreation centers, pools and beaches. Tim Harfmann speaks with the commissioner, who is also active in his parish’s Boy Scout troop.
