Around 2,000 people took to the red steps in the crossroads of the world for Pentecost on Friday, and did not leave until the sun rose on Saturday.

Organizers said they wanted to celebrate the Holy Spirit’s descent upon the Apostles before Sunday, so that parishioners wouldn’t miss Mass.

And so, Catholics flooded New York City’s top tourist destination, Times Square, to celebrate the Holy Spirit.

Parishioners from St. Pancras church in Glendale, Queens, said the high energy celebration was important.
