The troops are gearing up and will be at the border by the end of the week.

“We will deploy over five thousand two hundred soldiers to the southwest border. That’s an addition to the 2,092 that are already employed from our National Guard Operation Guardian support,โ€ said Command General O’Shaughnessy, U.S. Northern Command and North American Aerospace Defense.

The nearest migrants, traveling by foot, are about 900 miles away. They’re weeks away from arriving at the border, where many reportedly plan to seek asylum.

The Commander-In-Chief has a message for them, with Trump tweeting, “Many gang members and some very bad people are mixed into the caravan heading to our southern border. Please go back, you will not be admitted into the United States unless you go through the legal process. This is an invasion of our country and our military is waiting for you!”

Vice President Mike Pence echoing that sentiment: “Our message to people in the caravan is simple: turn around you will not be allowed to come into the United States of America illegally. We will not allow it.”

Critics claim Trump is creating a crisis around the migrants for political gain — to stoke fears and gain votes for republicans in the midterm elections that is just days away. And far from invading, the migrants would be following the law by claiming asylum if they reach the border.

Meanwhile, the White House Press Secretary says his motives are pure. “The President’s number one job and number one priority is to protect the safety and security of Americans. And he’s going to do what he deems necessary in order to do that,โ€ said Sarah Huckabee Sanders.

A defense official says the new operation is expected to run from November fifth through December 15th.
