Marie Collins, an Irish woman once molested by a priest, has resigned from the Vatican’s sex abuse commission. An original member of the three-year-old panel, she believes Pope Francis supports the commission’s work, but she’s quitting because, she says, other forces in the Vatican are not cooperating. Now that the resignation is rocking the Holy Father’s commission, Tim Harfmann speaks with top officials of the Brooklyn diocese to see what possible impact it could have.
